On 7 May 2026, VIT Chennai signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Lawrence & Mayo (India) Pvt. Ltd. to establish the Centre of Excellence in Disaster Management for Sustainable Agricultural Resilience (CEDAR) at the AGRHI Hub, under the Erasmus+ funded AGRHI Project.

CEDAR is an important value addition to the AGRHI Hub, bringing industry expertise and advanced technologies into the project ecosystem. The Centre will support sustainable and climate-resilient agriculture through high precision data capture, geospatial technologies, disaster management approaches, and modern engineering applications.

The collaboration will contribute to better disaster preparedness, efficient agricultural planning, technology-driven farming practices, and capacity building. It will also provide students with opportunities for hands-on learning, skill development, research, and exposure to industry relevant technologies. The Centre will further strengthen the long-term impact of the AGRHI Project through continued research, training, innovation, and industry engagement.
